exim-imap down? WHM

Have you ever experienced exim and imap being down on your server and never really found a fix for it? Well you have come to the right place, there can be many reasons why exim and imap are down, mostly due to the fact that a client/user on your server is mass mailing over thousands of emails which the server cant withstand.

The first step you have to do is delete the delivery que:

You can do that do that be doing this following command :
# exim -bp | awk '/^ *[0-9]+[mhd]/{print "exim -Mrm " $3}' | bash

After you do that, restart your exim server and it should work, unless you had an similar issue I had where the server wouldnt do it properly.

Step 2. This step will fix the issue with imap and exim being down.

*First of all login to whm with your root.
*Find “Mailserver Selection” and click it.
*And choose Courier instead of Dovecot (since dovecott always has issue with centos for some odd reason)
*Click Save.
* Viola You should have you exim and imap back up again.

PS: The changing of mail server can take from up to 10 mins to 20 mins so be patient.

Here is a comprehensive website status checker with multi website facility where in you can chosse the website through which you want to check a particular site.

Well, title says it all. Checks if the website is up or down from the website you want to check.

Added 4 sites for this purpose. Check the site from which you want to check if a website is down or not. Suggestions are welcome and new ideas also.

Got nothing more to say about this application. Simple code and simple, just a different way to implement it. Thats it .

Metadata Elements

Metadata elements or usually referred as META Tags are generally found within the and tags of a web page. META Tags are still relevant with indexing in search engines.

META Tags should be utilized in accordance with the search engines which we are targeting and also W3C – World Wide Web Consortium Metadata Specifications .

Following is a partial list of META Tags which may be used in the overall site structure, organization and search engine strategies.

1. Page Titles – Title Element

Every html document must have a TITLE Element in the head section. Some refer to the </code> element as a meta tag (title tag) when it is not.</p> <p style="text-align: center"><code><title>Wanted - Free Webmaster Resources

To see an example of where the title element is placed in the html, view the source code of this web page. Look at the very top of the page right after the opening tag.

2. META Description Tag

Some search engines will index the META Description Tag found in the section of your web pages. These indexing search engines may present the content of your meta description tag as the result of a search query.

3. META Keywords Tag

The META Keywords Tag is where you list keywords and keyword phrases that you’ve targeted for that specific page. There have been numerous discussions at various search engine marketing forums surrounding the use of the keywords tag and its effectiveness. The overall consensus is that the tag has little to no relevance with the major search engines today.

4. META Language Tag

In HTML elements, the language attribute or META Language Tag specifies the natural language. This document is mostly concerned with how to specify the primary language(s) (there could be more than one) and the base language (there is only one) in HTML documents.

5. META Link Relationship Tag

It is helpful for search results to reference the beginning of the collection of documents in addition to the page hit by the search. You may help search engines by using the link element with rel="start" along with the title attribute. The META Link Relationship tag is part of the metadata that appears within the section of your web pages.

6. META Robots Tag

The Robots META Tag is meant to provide users who cannot upload or control the/robots.txt file at their websites, with a last chance to keep their content out of search engine indexes and services.
- META Robots Tag for Googlebot
  Googlebot obeys the noindex, nofollow, and noarchive META Robots Tags. If you place these tags in the head of your HTML/XHTML document, you can cause Google to not index, not follow, and/or not archive particular documents on your site.
- META Robots Tag for MSNBot
  MSNBot obeys the noindex and nofollow Robots META Tag. Placing these tags in the heading of your HTML document prevents MSNBot from indexing or following specific documents.

7. META Revist-After Tag

The revisit-after META tag is not supported by any major search engines, it never was supported and probably never will be. It was developed for, and supported by, Vancouver Webpages and their local search engine searchBC.

8 HTML Comments Tag

HTML comments are not metadata but, are typically found in the section of web pages. HTML comments can be utilized anywhere within your documents HTML structure.

There has been a myth that has perpetuated over the years where keywords and keyword phrases listed inside HTML comments tags would add a boost to the overall relevancy of the page.

Google’s New Algorithm Combats Content Farms

On February 24th, Google flipped a switch and release it’s new algorithm, which will impact about 12 percent of the search engine’s search results.

This change came after the rise in low-quality websites, like content farms, that have begun to take over the web. The new algorithm will push those low-quality websites down but sites with good, original content should see better rankings. Amit Singhal, a software engineer at Google, and Matt Cutts, a principal engineer at Google, both have said that this new algorithm benefits websites that have said high quality sites will benefit from this change.

This news isn’t pleasant to people who run auto blogs or content farms, websites that are designed to copy content from another source. Google has started to see a rise in such websites and in order to maintain quality results, they have implemented this algorithm.

Just recently, Google accused Microsoft of copying their search results for their own, Bing. In June of 2010, Google noticed that Bing had the same results as Google even though the queries were misspelled. As a response, Google performed an experiment by having its search engineers perform searches while they have Internet Explorer 8, Suggested Searches, and the Bing Toolbar enabled. To test their theory, Google created 100 searches, however the fake queries returned no results. On the other hand, Google placed honeypot pages at the top of its results and found that Bing appeared to copy Google’s results for those pages.

Generate Random Passwords without even connecting to the internet in a secure and safe way.

So I just got an idea as to making a Password Generator. Well I am not such a good coder but Google helped in making it complete.

Select length more than 8, and choose atleast one of the check boxes for the application to generate a Random Password. You may also type in the password in the Text Field and check the strength Indicated.

Click File and then Save to save the Password as a ‘.txt’ or’.rtf’ or ‘.html’ files. B-)

Did u find any bugs? Tell me and will try to rectify them. Don’t mind I just added some partner sites for fun as I didn’t want the rest of the menu to be empty This is the first ever app i made, so any mistakes lemme know and lemme learn.

Note : Requires latest .NET Framework installed on ur pc.

How Does It Work?

Type in a Randome password you feel and check the strength of the password in the progress bar.

Generate a random password by selecting the size of the password greater than 8 to make it more secure and choose any of the check boxes available in order to choose the type of password you want to generate.

Want to save the password generated? Then the application has a feature to save the password in 3 formats specifically Rich Text Format(.rtf) , Text File (.txt) or HTML(.html)

What is CDN?

CDN stands for Content Delivery Network or Content Distribution Network which is a system of computers which hold copies of data at various point in a network to expand the bandwidth for access to the data from the users or clients through the network.

A client accesses a copy of the data near to the client, as opposed to all clients accessing the same central server, so as to avoid bottlenecks near that server.

Benefits of CDN

The capacity sum of strategically placed servers can be higher than the network backbone capacity. This can result in an impressive increase in the number of concurrent users. For instance, when there is a 10 Gbit/s network backbone and 200 Gbit/s central server capacity, only 10 Gbit/s can be delivered. But when 10 servers are moved to 10 edge locations, total capacity can be 10×10 Gbit/s.

Strategically placed edge servers decrease the load on interconnects, public peers, private peers and backbones, freeing up capacity and lowering delivery costs. It uses the same principle as above. Instead of loading all traffic on a backbone or peer link, a CDN can offload these by redirecting traffic to edge servers.

CDNs generally deliver content over TCP and UDP connections. TCP throughput over a network is impacted by both latency and packet loss. In order to reduce both of these parameters, CDNs traditionally place servers as close to the edge networks that users are on as possible. Theoretically the closer the content the faster the delivery, although network distance may not be the factor that leads to best performance.

CDNs can have automatic server availability sensing with instant user redirection. A CDN can offer 100% availability, even with large power, network or hardware outages.

CDN technologies give more control of asset delivery and network load. They can optimize capacity per customer, provide views of real-time load and statistics, reveal which assets are popular, show active regions and report exact viewing details to the customers. These usage details are an important feature that a CDN provider must provide, since the usage logs are no longer available at the content source server after it has been plugged into the CDN, because the connections of end-users are now served by the CDN edges instead of the content source.

Free and Useful Traffic Tracking Tools for Webmasters

Being able to track traffic statistics is a huge part of being a webmaster and keeping your website going. By keeping track of your traffic, you’re able to see who your audience is and modify your site to better suit those kind of visitors. Tracking your stats also helps you determine what your sources of traffic are so you are able to adjust and concentrate on the sources of traffic that are getting you big hits. Google Analytics
Google Analytics is one of the most preferred stat-tracking tools by webmasters because it gives you a detailed report about the traffic you are getting at your website. The dashboard does a nice job of giving you a general report of your website, telling you how much traffic you are getting as well as your traffic sources and popular content. When you enter the user area, you’re present with a pretty simple yet useful presentation of your traffic stats. You are told your number of: page loads, unique visitors, and returning visitors. Piwik is definitely a unique method of web analytics because instead of just signing up on a website like Google Analytics and Statcounter, you own your website statistics. You do still have to place a javascript code in your website like Google Analytics and Statcounter. Piwik is a really visual web analytic tool and is something I definitely urge you guys to try out. Basic Principles About HTML Headings

The heading structure of your pages is one of the very important aspects of on-page SEO. It defines which parts of your content are important, and how they’re interconnected.

Because they have different goals, a single post needs another heading structure than your blog’s homepage or your category archives. This post intends to give you the basic pointers to get your heading structure right for those three different cases.

There are 5 basic principles of HTML headings. Before doing anything about the heading structure, let us see these principles :

The most important heading on the page should be the H1.
There is usually only one H1 on any page.
Sub-headings should be H2′s, sub-sub-headings should be H3′s, etc.
Each heading should contain valuable keywords, if not, it’s a wasted heading.
In longer pieces of content, a heading is what helps a reader skip to the parts that they find interesting.

Based on headings, there are tools out there that can, and will, make an outline for your content. If you were to make an outline for this article, it would look like this:

[h1] The heading structure for your blog
- [h2] 5 basic principles about headings
- [h2] The headings for your homepage
- [h3] The issue of full posts on archive pages
- [h2] Heading structure for your single posts / single pages
- [h2] Structure of headings for your category / tag / taxonomy pages

Headings Of Your Homepage

your homepage should probably have a structure that looks like this:

H1: Blog’s name
H2: Your blog’s tagline, if it’s “keyword-rich”; if not, all your recent posts should have an H2.
H3: Your recent posts, or, if those have an H2, this could be used for somewhat older posts.
H4: related content in the sidebar, like the heading of an “about” widget.
H5: Unrelated headings in your sidebar, footer, etc.

Heading structure for your single posts / single pages

This one is simple:

H1: post / page title
H2′s and H3′s: subheadings and sub-subheadings
H4: your blog’s name, and possibly related widgets
H5: same as above: sidebars etc.

Structure of headings for your category / tag / taxonomy pages

If you actually want your category and tag pages to rank, meaning you’ve given them some unique content and are making them interesting for people, the heading structure should basically be the same as the homepage, with this difference:

H1: category / tag title
H2′s: post titles
H3: blog’s name
Rest: repeat from homepage.

Now it’s time for you to take some action. Go and use the W3 Validator now to check your blog’s outline. If you’ve read an understood all the above, you should now be able to determine whether your theme is doing a good job.
